A Fresh Look for Logan!

If you haven’t been by the restaurant over the past few weeks, you’re in for some pleasant surprises. The first thing to look for is our terrific new sign designed for us by local craftsman, Mark Challou. We love it! It combines elements of classic Americana but in a contemporary, fresh fashion. It’s like Christmas every time I see it…

Speaking of Christmas, this year we turned over our lovely front windows to John Copley and band of artists to decorate for the holidays for the first time (and I hope it won’t be the last!). John is responsible for much of the beautiful decorative painting adorning windows on storefronts throughout downtown Ann Arbor. John and local artist Mary Thiefels created a stylized wreath motif for us with silhouettes of bearded barley, holly leaves, and curly little tendrils. It has very little color, except a few accent points of holly berries and Christmas bulbs. They appear to be as much etched into the glass as they are painted--it’s all just gorgeous. Come see!

It’s the perfect gift; it fits everyone, isn’t perishable, and you can buy them while you’re having dinner--such a deal! Or, you can do it from home in your pajamas--just call us at (734) 327-2312. It’s that easy…

New Year’s Eve at Logan!

It’s not too late to reserve your seats for the last special event for 2016 here at Logan--our New Year’s Eve Extravaganza! We are putting away our regular menu (for that night) to prepare a very special five-course menu for one night only! To round out your experience we are, of course, offering a specially selected wine flight and, of course, it just wouldn’t be New Year’s without some really great champagne. Spaces are available throughout the evening for this delicious event. Come early and still make it to your party or come later and toast the New Year with us! Call 734-327-2312 for more information or to make reservations! Please remember, we do require a credit card number to confirm reservations for this evening…

Chef’s Garden Spot

I’m wondering if this won’t be the last word on our garden this year. October has been so nice, and the late season produce: purple sweet potatoes, squash, and even some late green tomatoes that we’ve fried, has been wonderful. Soon, the frost will come and we’ll call it a season, but Spring is only five months away?

Logan’s Autumn Celebration!

What a sensational September here in Ann Arbor; but the change to fall comes quickly. Join us for our annual Autumn Celebration. It’s five courses of Chef Thad’s cuisine, paired with a special selection of five wines. We always look forward to share the bounty of the harvest with our families and friends, and this is the perfect opportunity.

Logan’s Autumn Celebration
October 11th-15th
$100 per Person (for food and wine)

Think Pink (Drinks)

Logan is pleased to recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please enjoy our house cocktail “Pink Pomander”, and for each one purchased throughout the month, we will be donating $1 to the University of Michigan Breast Care Center. It’s a great cause, and a terrific cocktail. Let’s raise some money, and find a cure!

Chef’s Garden Spot

One of the benefits of having Chef’s Garden is now we have a means to compost our kitchen waste. Even from our little kitchen, we were able to collect about 20 gallons of waste per day! That’s somewhere over 1,000 gallons so far that otherwise would have gone into a landfill, presumably. Just thought you’d like to know.

Welcome Back!

It’s September, a new school year is starting, and Ann Arbor’s seasonal cycle resets. It’s always a little bittersweet to see summer go, but late summer nights are just right for dining al fresco, especially since it hasn’t been the most ideal summer so far for that. As we gear up for football games and the changing colors of autumn, enjoy the fleeting beauty of now.

Cocktail Hour…

Speaking of seasonal changes, here’s a heads up for all you Summer fans out there! It’s time for us to revamp our “House Specialty Cocktails” and come up with some new selections for fall. We’ve been adding some new items to the bar, and here’s a partial list. Ann Arbor’s own Waterhill Vodka and Gin, Two James “Nain Rouge” absinthe, Zucca Rabarero, and Becherovka. Want to know what they are? Or, better yet, what we’re doing with them? Now’s the perfect time to check out some unbridled creativity until the new list is done… There’s four front-row seats at the bar, come and get ‘em.

But, hey, it is still summer after all, and summer means gardening. We are so excited! Chef’s garden is coming along beautifully, and we are starting to reap the first produce of the season. Ground cherries have been super-abundant, and the baby eggplant are delicious. We got our first squash, a stately forest-green and mottled one. We think it is a kobucha, a Japanese variety, but when you grow them from seeds, they don’t have any labels! Who knew? It is pretty tasty, whatever it is… We are coming into the heirloom tomato season, and we’re pulling our own mozzarella for Chef’s signature Caprese Salad. It’s not something to miss. That’s the news for now from Logan; hope to see you all very soon!

Chef’s Summer Tasting Menu

The response has been terrific to Chef Thad’s three-course “Summer Tasting Menu”. As Chef keeps fine tuning the courses, it remains a lighter, more casual option to our five-course tasting menu. It’s just perfect for a hot summer evening. From the following menu, you can select an appetizer, a salad and an entrée, all for just $30!

Appetizer
Ceviche or Asparagus Tempura Salad: Ginger Bibb Lettuce or Fennel

Entrée
Michigan Perch Tempura, Saffron Ravioli, or Braised Short Ribs

We will also be offering an optional flight of three specially chosen wines for $20 to complete your dining experience. Conveniently, this menu will be fully available on weekends. By the way, we are often able to offer our five-course menu earlier on summer weekends. We love to do them when we can; don’t be afraid to ask…

Logan’s Summer Celebration!

Don’t let summer slip by without having one last Logan hurrah! Join us for our Summer Celebration: We’ll be pairing Chef’s delicious Five Course Tasting Menu, with a lovingly chosen flight of five wines to accentuate each course. It’s a great opportunity to reconnect with friends who’ve been away for summer, or to decompress after your move-in. Get your Ann Arbor on!
